windows 7 Migration

How long we need to keep both Windows XP* and Windows 7 in our environment and plan accordingly. Lot of companies will require 12-18 months of planning and testing before deploying a new client OS. Allowing time for a thorough evaluation and decision-making process is critical.

Mainstream support for Windows XP had been retired. ISVs will likely require Windows 7 for new releases of business critical applications much earlier than the Windows XP 2014 end-of-life date.

Make sure you are putting the new OS on systems capable of handling it. With annual support costs for PCs older than three years often exceeding the purchase price of a new PC3, integrating Windows 7 into your environment timed with your PC refresh cycle may be your most cost-effective option.
